The book starts out slowly, but the intensity builds and builds. The sign of good writing is the fact that you can feel her emotions with her as she is going through these changes.

There is slow burn and yearning, but confusion and fighting against everything.

I like the evil priest; it adds an extra element to the story. But we don’t get to learn much about him other than the fact he has been hunting Dorian for a very long time. An unhuman length of time.
