Persephone's Dual Nature: What the Queen of the Underworld Teaches Us About Becoming Whole
Persephone is far more than the goddess of spring. She embodies the delicate balance between light and darkness, innocence and wisdom, life and death. This reflective essay explores why her dual nature continues to resonate today, revealing what the Queen of the Underworld can teach us about transformation, resilience, and becoming whole.
The Woman Beneath the Ashes: A Manifesto for Being Seen
Some women spend their lives trying to become smaller so they can fit comfortably into the expectations of others. This is not that story.
The Woman Beneath the Ashes is a reflection on transformation, belonging, and the courage it takes to be fully seen. It is for every woman who has survived, reinvented herself, and is finally ready to stop apologising for her depth, her darkness, and her light.
I’ve Lived a Million Lives
I have lived many lives within a single lifetime. I have been an adopted child searching for belonging, a paramedic witnessing humanity at its most fragile, a reader, writer, teacher, musician, artist, lover, traveller, and seeker. I have lived in different countries, embraced different beliefs, known both profound joy and deep depression. Each version of me has left its mark. None of those lives were wasted. Together, they have shaped the woman I am today and continue to guide me toward the person I am still becoming.
The Difficulty of Truly Being Seen
For years I worried about what other people thought of me, often hiding parts of myself in the process. Through the To Be Magnetic Being Seen Challenge, I'm learning that authenticity isn't about being fearless, it's about being honest. This essay explores the vulnerability of being truly seen and the freedom that comes from finally accepting yourself.
Loss of a Friendship
This post explores the quiet grief that can come with the loss of a friendship. Through reflection sparked by EMDR therapy, I examine how one memory reshaped the way I see trust, loyalty, and connection. It is an honest look at the pain of broken bonds, the patterns we carry into our relationships, and the courage it takes to face our imperfections with compassion while continuing to grow.
Float Tank Therapy
Float tanks are one of the rare places where the world goes completely quiet. No screens, no noise, no pressure to do anything at all. Floating effortlessly in warm, mineral-rich water allows the body to relax deeply while the mind slows down and resets. For an hour, gravity disappears, the nervous system softens, and stillness becomes the most powerful form of restoration.
Just a Moment
A deeply personal reflection on healing, self-discovery, and transformation. Through EMDR therapy and spiritual reflection, this piece explores how confronting buried memories can reshape identity, open new paths, and invite a softer, stronger version of self to emerge. It is a story of courage, vulnerability, and learning to trust the unfolding journey of becoming.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is not about pretending you were never hurt. It is not about excusing what should never have happened. It is about choosing, again and again, not to let old wounds decide who you become. It is the quiet courage of softening when every instinct says to stay guarded.
In this piece, I reflect on what it has meant for me to forgive others and, just as importantly, to forgive myself. How anger once felt like protection. How letting go felt like weakness. And how, over time, I learned that forgiveness is neither of those things. It is freedom. It is healing. It is choosing peace over carrying pain forever.
Grounding
There is something quietly radical about standing barefoot on the Earth.
No apps.
No metrics.
No optimisation.
Just your breath meeting soil.
Your nervous system meeting safety.
Your body remembering what it feels like to be held.
In a world that keeps us insulated, elevated, and endlessly “on,” grounding invites us back into something older than burnout and faster than fear: presence.
Sometimes healing doesn’t arrive as a breakthrough.
Sometimes it arrives as grass beneath your feet, sunlight on your skin, and a soft internal whisper that says:
You are safe here.
You belong to this planet.
You have always been supported.
Sometimes… it really is as simple as taking your shoes off. 🌿
Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy works less like a command and more like an invitation. It offers the body a signal it already understands, supporting repair, energy, and balance at a cellular level. Rather than forcing calm or overriding symptoms, it helps create the internal conditions where regulation can emerge naturally. For a nervous system shaped by stress or trauma, this gentle, non-invasive support can feel like being met rather than managed.
Boundaries
Boundaries are not walls. They are doors with locks you control. They exist to protect what is finite, your time, energy, body, and attention, before they are eroded by guilt or habit. When boundaries are absent, the nervous system stays on high alert, scanning for threat. When they are practiced, even imperfectly, the body begins to learn something new: that saying no does not equal danger, and that safety can be self-generated.
